Under the motto the Data, the Web and the App, the proposals developed under the subject of Project II of the Master in Communication Design and New Media are conceived as experimental approaches to communication shaped by the current manifestations of new media. They explore their creative possibilities approaching themes such as the proliferation of data and their meaning or expression. They focus on the current forms of writing, reading or producing and disseminating online content as forms of postproduction. They reflect on the broader paradigm of an uncritical application of technological solutions and on how they reshape the contours of participation, use and processes of engagement.

Parallel to this reflection, the projects resulting from a partnership with the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences* focus on the communication of science through the creation of experiences that approach astronomy in its relationship with everyday life, confront science and imagination or explore the dilution of boundaries between old and new media.

*The Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (IA) is a research unit of the University of Lisbon and the University of Porto. The Astronomy Literacy project, which underlines this partnership, arises from a collaboration between IA and the University of Leiden.
